Here are the steps to crochet a simple flower granny square:
Materials
- Yarn of your choice (at least two colors)
- Crochet hook (appropriate for the weight of your yarn)
- Scissors
Instructions
Round 1:
- Begin by making a magic ring with the first color.
- Chain 4 (counts as first double crochetand chain 1), make 7 more double crochets into the magic ring, and chain 1 in between. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 3 to close the round. Pull the tail of the magic ring to tighten the center.
Round 2:
- Attach the the second color to any of the chain spaces. Chain 2 (counts as first double crochet), double crochet 2 together in the same stitch as the chain 2. (This will be the first cluster stitch). Chain 2.
- Make cluster stitch into the next chain space, by crocheting 3 double crochet together.
- Repeat step 2 in each of the 8 chain spaces in the round, and chain 2 in between.
- Join with a slip stitch in the first stitch close the round.
Round 3:
- Attach the the second color to any of the chain spaces. Chain 2 (counts as first double crochet), double crochet 2 together in the same stitch as the chain 2. (This will be the first cluster stitch). Chain 2.
- Make cluster stitch into the same chain space, by crocheting 3 double crochet together.
- Make 2 cluster stitch and chain 2, the make another cluster stitch into the chain space.
- Repeat step 3 in each of the 8 chain spaces in the round, and chain 2 in between.
- Join with a slip stitch in the first stitch to close the round.
Round 4:
- Attach a new color of yarn to any of the CH-spaces in the round. CH 4.( The CH 4 will count as a Treble crochet) Make 2 more Treble crochet into the same CH-space. *Make 3 Double crochet into the next 3 chain space. Make 3 Treble crochet. Chain 2. and 3 Treble crochet into the next Chain space. * Repeat from *-* all the way around. Untill you have 4 corners and 4 sides of your sqaure.
