Does your chain 1 count as a stitch because on the very beginning I’m still at 46 stitches instead of 47 when I sc into each chain
No Chain 1 does not count as a stitch. 🙂
On row 13 what do I do when I get to the spots where I skipped stitches in row 12, do I do a stitch in them or skip over the skip spots or what?
You will work into every stitch of the row, including the 3 chain stitches.
On row 13, should I include 3 stitches in the ch 3 space from the row before?
Yes 🙂
When doing the rows of the sleeves, what do you do at the end of each row? Turn and single stitch? This is my first baby jacket and I love it!
Thanks!
Tricia
At the end of each roe I di a single crochet, except for when I make the decreases 🙂
Hello there, for the sleeves it says repeat 1-4 and 5. So am I just repeating 1-5?
I am really enjoying this pattern
Yes exactly 🙂 I am glad to hear that you are enjoying the pattern 🙂
Thank you for replying 😌 I’m confused when I start the sleeves. Which middle chain do I join the yarn to? And when it says crochet to the end of the row? What is the end of the row?

I am having the same trouble. I love this pattern but I don’t understand the instructions for the sleeves. Do I go all the way around the arm hole but back wards and forwards rather than working around?
The sleeves are crocheted back and forth.
Do I chain one at the end of row when making sleeves?
Yes always 🙂
I crochet the sleeves in a round and it worked perfectly
Thats great 🙂 You can do that if are a more skilled crocheter. I think that fir beginners the other method is easier 🙂
Marie,
I have another question for the hood, is the hood crocheted in 2 different pieces since it is sewn together on the top or do I go back and forth. Do I crochet 1 side first and then the other side please help.
Thank you,
Patti
The hood is crocheted in one piece, and sewn together in the top 🙂
Hello! I have a question on row 12! Do I slip stitch in each skipped stitch (the two sets of 27)?
Then in row 13 – 37, do I slip stitch in those two set of skipped stitches?
No, you only have to follow the instructions that are written in the pattern. I will always write it, if you have to do something else.

Saludos
Quiero pensar en eso. Gracias por tu comentario. muy buen dia 🙂
I am lost at row 12. I do not know what to do after CH 3
Just like the pattern says. Skip 27 stitches. work into the 28th stitch and so on. It is very simple 🙂
Thank you!
Marie, I love this pattern
I am having trouble with row 5 on the sleeve do I crochet a sc in first stitch and then dc in the next all the way across or what?
Hi Patti 🙂
Thank You for your comment.
You will do a decrease at the start and the end of the row. across the rest of the row You will do sc in next st. dc in next st.
Marie,
Thank you so much for clearing this up for me.
You are welcome 🙂
Marie, I am having trouble with the sleeve on row 5 when it says sc dec do I do this all the way around? I love this pattern and I’m making one for my great granddaughter due in April.
Thank you so much.
I’m on row 14 just a bit confused, when it says you begin every row with a SC and then go over DC from the previous round with a SC does that mean I will start row 14 with 2 SC? Or should I not be SCing into the same stitch as the chain 1?
begin and end each row with a sc, regardless of which stitch you need to crochet in the next stitch.
I really like this pattern, thank you! I put my own spin on it though. I made a collar instead of a hood and I also made a stripe too (only because I was trying to match a hat that some asked me to make a sweater for their new baby granddaughter)! I also joined the rounds on the arms instead of sewing the arms together, I still turned each row. Thanks for the inspiration!
Dear Kimber,
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed my pattern. It sounds like you got a really nice sweater out of it. have a lovely day 🙂
How do you join the rounds? I would prefer to do that than sewing the arms.
You will just make Slip Stitch into the first stitch of the round and turn the work.

Hi Marie! Is there any way to modify the pattern to make it for a larger baby?
Dear Jenny 🙂 Yes the pattern comes in sizes from 0-12 months.
I Also have a pattern for kids from 2-7 years old.
Hello Marie,
I had a bit of a trouble with the sleeves. So to clearify, I repeat rows 1-5 till i have 25 rows. So i do 2 decreses each 5’th row. At the end of it, after I sew it together, should we make 1-2 sc rows, to have a nice finish? I am not sure if i take a closer look to the picture. And in the pattern is not written. Thank you so much!
Dear Kinga. Thank you very much for your comment. Yes you have understood the pattern quite right. Thank you for making me aware that there is a little explanation missing around the sleeves. I will add that to the pattern soon. Have a lovely day 🙂
I have never made a sweater before but I was determined to try this pattern for my new granddaughter on the way. I admit I had to start and rip a few times because I wanted to make it perfect but I finally finished it yesterday and I am SO proud of the completed sweater. I can’t believe I finished it and it’s beautiful. The pattern is easy to follow, even for a first time sweater crocheter, with a little help from Youtube. I plan on making a second one for my niece who is also expecting. Thank you for a great pattern for my first attempt at a sweater.
Dear Donna, Thank you very much for your comment. It’s great to hear that you’ve been so happy with my Pattern. I hope your granddaughter will love the jacket 🙂
Can I ask what the finished size is meant to be? sometimes I crochet tight and don’t want a finished product that won’t fit! Thanks
Yes, of course. The measurements are as follows: Chest: 45 cm.
Sleeve to underarm: 14,5 cm.
Full length from shoulder to hemline: 25 cm.
Hi Marie,
I’m not understanding the sleeve instructions. If it’s crocheted in rows. How many chains do I need to start? Thanks
You will not have to make any chains. You will work into the stitches of the armhole.
Do you have any video of this sweater or any other one?
Not for this one , but I have another one 🙂

Love this sweater. I am having trouble with the sleeves. Seems I am losing stitches as I go from row to row. I dont understand why you mus begin and end with a single crochet. This seems to be the ccause of the lost stitches. Please help!
You will make a sc in the first and the last st. regardless which stich type comes before it. You will not lose any stitches if You work into every stitch.
Can I use baby sports weight yarn
You can do that, but the size of the jacket will be different, from the pattern.
Hi, I love this sweater and I want to make it for my niece but she is too big for these patterns. Do you have a 2t, 3t or even a 4t? Thank you 😊
Hi 🙂
Thank You so much. I am happy hear that 🙂
Yes the pattern comes in these sizes as well. Just click the link: https://adorecrea.com/product/children/lemon-peel-crochet-jacket-for-kids/
Hi Marie. I’ve made this sweater for my granddaughter and it’s been perfect but she’s outgrown it. Do you have ideas for a bigger size? Should I just increase the rows? Thanks
Hi Sandy,
I am so glad to hear that You liked the patttern. I have the pattern here bigger sizes: https://adorecrea.com/product/children/lemon-peel-crochet-jacket-for-kids/
Hi
A little confused on Row 14 ….. if I’m making a SC over the DC and starting and ending with a SC …. Am I dropping stitches ? Or do I start with 2 SC, so I can have 79 stitches?
Thank you
Hi Cheryl,
In the first and the last ST, you will make a SC, regardless of what kind of ST comes before it 🙂
Hi!
I am crocheting this sweater now in size 0-3 months, and it says in the recipe that you need 100 grams of yarn for this. But I’ve started on one arm now, and have almost run out of yarn, and I haven’t made the other arm and hood yet. Is it correct that you only need 100 grams of yarn for this size, or do you need more?:)
Hi Emma,
It depends on what kind of yarn You are using. It’s been a long time since I made this jacket, but I assume that when I’ve written 100 grams, it must be right, but you’re right that it doesn’t sound like much. I have now changed it to 150 grams, just in case.
I’m confused with the sleeves. It says that you start in the middle chain but then that it needs to be sewn together. Do you chain a certain amount and then go back and forth or join in the arm hole and work your way around there?
I only make a turning chain, and crochet back and forth.
I love this pattern. Can I just check, when you are doing the edging for the main body, do you go all the way around including the neck? Also, do you do 3st in the corners? Thank you
Thank you very much for your comment 🙂 Yes the edging will go all around the neckline as well. I will do 2 or 3 sc into the corners.
Hi I am enjoying making this pattern but I’m super confused on the sleeves. I’m a beginner and my first time to make a jacket. Is there a way you can show a video of how you do the sleeves on this jacket?
Hi Kristy,
How nice to hear that you are enjoying the pattern.
I di plan on making a video Tutorial on how to make this jacket very soon 🙂
I just made 2 of these adorable sweaters. Your pattern was flawless and easy to follow. Thank you so much for sharing with us ❤
Dear Beatrice,
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I am thrilled to hear that you liked my pattern and found it easy to follow. I really appreciate yon taking the time to send some positive feedback, that means alot to me 🙂
Hi there! It appears that there is a problem with the website. I’m having difficulty buying this pattern in various sizes. I’ve attempted to resolve this issue by using various web browsers, but the problem persists. When I attempt to add the pattern to my cart, nothing happens. Moreover, when I try to access the cart, it simply redirects me to the “shop” section of the store. I wanted to bring this to your attention because you offer such lovely beautiful patterns. I hope this issue can be resolved so that everyone can enjoy your wonderful creations!
Hi Daria,
I am sorry to hear that you are having problems buing the pattern. I will have a look at the issue and try to fix it as soon as possible.
And thank you very much for your wonderful support and lovely comment about my patterns.
I love the pattern! It’s so simple, but my sleeves are giving me fits! If I do sc Dec all across, it makes a puffy look to the sleeve. Not smooth like the picture. Help, please!
If you’re seeing a puffy look instead of the smooth appearance you desire, it could be due to a few reasons. Here are some suggestions to help you troubleshoot and achieve the desired result:
Check Your Gauge:
Ensure that your gauge matches the pattern’s gauge. If your stitches are too tight, it can create a puffy effect. Conversely, if they’re too loose, it might not hold the shape well. Make a gauge swatch to compare.
Follow the Pattern Instructions:
Review the pattern instructions for the sleeves carefully. Ensure that you’re following the specified stitch counts, increases, and decreases as directed. Double-check if there are any special instructions for the sleeves.
Consider the Type of Decrease:
If you’re using single crochet decreases (sc dec), it may contribute to a denser and puffier look. Consider using a different type of decrease, such as invisible decreases or slip stitch decreases, to achieve a smoother appearance.
Count Your Stitches:
Make sure you have the correct number of stitches in each row. Miscounting stitches can lead to irregularities in the fabric.
Blocking:
After completing your project, blocking can help shape and smooth out the stitches. Wet blocking or steam blocking can be effective, depending on the yarn you’re using.
Yarn Choice:
The type of yarn you’re using can impact the final appearance. Some yarns may create a puffier texture than others. If the yarn is too bulky for the pattern, it can affect the overall look.
Experiment with Different Techniques:
If the pattern allows for it, try different stitch patterns or decreases to achieve the desired effect. You might find a variation that works better for the look you want.
Hello, this is my first sweater and I found your instructions easy to follow after watching your video tutorial n the Magnolia flower sweater. It might be helpful to include a link to the video on each of your sweater patterns. Thank you for the free patterns.
