Instructions
- Start by making a slip stitch and a number of chains that is a multible of 4 + 1. I am making 25 chains for my swatch.
- Start the first row by skipping the first 5 chains from the crochet hook and make 1 double crochet in the 6th chain from the crochet hook.
- Then make 2 chains and one more double crochet into the same chain. You have now made the first V-stitch of the row.
- Skip 3 chains and make a V stitch in the next stitch. (1 double crochet + 2 chains + 1 double crochet).
- Repeat previous point across the row until you have 3 chains left in the row. Make a double crochet in the last stitch.
- Make 3 chains and turn your work to start the next row. The 3 chains count as the first double crochet of row 2.
- Skip the first stitch and make a front post double crochet as follows: Yarn over, insert the hook around the post of the double crochet stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, then (yarn over and pull through 2 loops) twice.
- Make 3 double crochet in the V-stitch from the previous row. Then chain 1. Make 3 more double crochet into the same V-stitch.
- Then you will crochet 2 front post double crochet together as follows: Yarn over, insert the hook around the post of the double crochet stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, then (yarn over and pull through 2 loops). Yarn over again, insert the hook around the post of the next double crochet stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on the hook.
- Make 3 double crochet into the next V-stitch. Then chain 1. And then again 3 double crochet in the same V-stitch.
- Repeat the 2 previous points across the row until you have 1 stitch left. Make a front post double crochet in the last post of the last V-stitch.
- Finally, make a double crochet in the top of the chain 5 that you skipped at row 1.
- Chain 3 to start the next row and turn the work.
- Skip the first 5 stitches and make a V-stitch in the chain 1 space from the previous row.
- Repeat across the row making a V-stitch in all the chain spaces of the row until you have 4 double crochet left in the row. Skip the 4 double crochet, and make a double crochet in the top of the chain 3 from the previous row.
- Make 3 chains and turn the work. Repeat row 2 and 3 until you are satisfied with the length of your work.
